Seeking Volunteers for Camp Firefly Girl Scout Twilight Camp from July 29-August 2 or August 5-9! Camp Firefly still has openings for adult volunteers, aides and aides-in-training at Camp Crowell in Oakton during either the first session from July 29 - August 2 or the second session from August 5 – 9 for only four hours an evening. Camp itself is 6-9 pm and staff is expected to arrive half an hour before and stay until the last camper is out and areas are cleaned up (usually no later than 9:30 pm). Volunteers’ children, including sons and potty-trained preschoolers, are automatically accepted. Staff children get a reduced registration fee of $10 each. So anyone who is in town those weeks and wants to have some fun shepherding girls through their “Night at the Museum” themed centers or help at one of the centers, it’s not too late to sign up, get new flashlight batteries, and plan to skip cooking dinner for a week! Please share this information with your troop parents who might enjoy going to camp, because adult Firefly volunteers do not need to be trained Girl Scout leaders. They can be parents, grandparents, older siblings over age 18 or just adults that would love to spend evenings at camp for a week helping kids. To sign up or to obtain more info, go to the Camp Firefly website at www.campfirefly.org or attend the informational meeting for new adult staff volunteers at the Firefly Lodge at Camp Crowell from 7 to 8:30 pm this Thursday, April 11.
